Disneyland During The Holidays
It's November 8th and you know what that means! Or maybe you don't! The holidays are in full swing at Disneyland and California Adventure starting today! There's a lot to celebrate during the most magical time of the year and I'm here to run it all down for you so you don't miss a thing if you plan on visiting between now and January 6th! The food, the parades, the shows and of course, Santa Claus himself! Let's dive right into this one, shall we? Let's start over in Disney's California Adventure park, where you can celebrate the season during Disney's Festival of Holidays. This is a multicultural party of food and music, with holiday-inspired performances. Some of the highlights include Mickey's Happy Holidays, where you can dance along with Mickey Mouse and pals to the magically merry rhythms of the Holiday Toy Drummers. The Sound will celebrate the Kwanzaa holiday with soulful, heartwarming holiday songs performed a cappella style. Mostly Kosher focuses on Hanukkah with a blend of musical styles from klezmer and jazz to Latin and rock. You can also catch The Mariachi Divas, Blue13 Dance Company, Phat Cat Swinger, The Suffregettes and Holiday Toy Drummers. For the foodies out there, sink your teeth into the Festival Foods Marketplace. This seasonal smorgasbord will take you on a culinary journey around the globe. You'll be able to please your palette on delicious bites and fancy libations, and of course incredible desserts at various stations such as A Twist On Tradition, Brews & Bites, Holiday Duets, Merry Mashups and so many more! Check out the Festival Foods Marketplace page for all the details on this delightful event.
Head south of the boarder for the Disney ¡Viva Navidad! Street Party! Join The Three Caballeros as they "wing" in the holidays with mariachi and samba musicians, folklórico dancers, some of your favorite Disney Characters and amazing 12-foot-tall mojiganga puppets of Santa and Mrs. Claus!
If you're looking to meet the man himself, you can stop by Redwood Creek Challenge Trail though Christmas Eve to visit with Santa! The area is filled with seasonal games and activities for kids to enjoy. Starting on Christmas Day through January 6th, Santa Goofy will be on-hand to take photos and sign autographs! Cars Land also gets a holiday over haul, with festive car-themed decorations. Mater's Jingle Jamboree will serenade you with festive holiday tunes while whirling around a collection of car parts. At Luigi's Joy to the Whirl, the ride will embrace you in the Italian sounds of Luigi himself while you cruise in an Italian import.
Of course, Buena Vista Street will be decked out in holiday decor, including a towering tree covered in a variety of colored lights and eclectic ornaments. The tree is located just outside Elias & Co. Last, and certainly not least, is the World of Color - Season of Light. This awe-inspiring spectacle weaves together scenes from classic Disney films like Cinderella and Fantasia, with modern day hits like Toy Story and Frozen, with a musical score that features some of the most recognizable tunes from the Disney vaults. If you plan on attending this show, be sure to plan ahead. Get more information on the Disney website. Heading across the esplanade to Disneyland Park, there's quite a bit to take in! Ring in the holiday with one of the most festive parades you'll ever see! The Christmas Fantasy Parade sees some of your favorite Disney characters join with Santa Claus for a Main Street celebration. You'll see prancing reindeer, marching toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies and so much more. Several attractions get in the holiday spirit with festive overlays. The Haunted Mansion Holiday carries over from Halloween, taking riders on a journey through the popular film The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's A Small World really shines with a colorful overlay that features thousands of twinkling lights. Every 30 minutes, the rides comes to life with a wonderful show of projections and animations. Even Sleeping Beauty Castle gets in on the holiday fun with a wintry display of icicles and snow covered turrets. Each evening, the castle is illuminated with thousand of lights that come to life in stages.
