Despite the somewhat lukewarm (no pun intended) response to Disneyland's latest addition to the park, Galaxy's Edge has still offered fans an extremely immersive experience. The area gives park attendees a fun opportunity to delve into the world of Star Wars in everything from merchandise to food to the rides. Currently, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run is the lone attraction in the new themed land, but fans are anticipating the opening of the newest addition - Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
As with most new additions to Disney parks, details of the new attraction have been limited, but as we move closer to the opening in just a few short months, we're learning more and more about the ride. For instance, we now know that guests will be taken on a 15-minute adventure on the new dark ride. Bob Chapek, Disney Parks experiences chairman, revealed on a recent Freeform network special that the attraction will last approximately 15 minutes, which is shorter that the initial 28 minutes that has been rumored, but that is still a rather lengthy time for a ride. Chapek added “Imagine being chased for 15 minutes by Kylo Ren and the First Order. Stormtroopers everywhere, Lightsabers coming at you. It’s going to be fantastic.”
Rise of the Resistance will be an incredible experience for guests and will feature new technology, including fully realized laser blasts in mid-air and various holograms. The recent special feature unveiled new details on the story line the attraction will follow, dropping guests in the middle of the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be brought in as new recruits for the Resistance who board a transport vehicle on Batuu. Once on board, Rey, once again portrayed by Daisy Ridley, will greet guests, giving them a rundown of the mission they'll be assigned, which is to meet up with the rest of the Resistance at General Organa’s secret base on Bakura. Serving as wing man will be Poe Demeron (Oscar Isaac). The transport ship is intercepted by the First Order. Luckily for you, Finn (John Boyega) shows up and gives special instructions to get to the bottom of the Star Destroyer and escape before it blows up. You can view a brief teaser for the ride below.
